Description
The antiseptic, antifungal properties, the local anesthetic effect, and the ability to penetrate deeply into the wound are the most striking qualities. When in contact with the skin, the hydrogel gradually cools and controls the damaged surface.
After five to ten minutes, the skin temperature fluctuates about 5 degrees Celsius below the normal value. This nearly eliminates the hypothermia that often occurs in burn victims at a later stage. Burnshield also reduces edema formation by approximately 50%. After applying the sterile dressing to the wound, the cooling effect can last for 6 to 12 hours when covered, as an occlusive dressing (with non-absorbing material).
