The sterile products (such as compresses, bandages, etc.) in the first aid kit are marked with an expiration date found on the product. The average shelf life of the products is 4 years. Regularly check the first aid kit for completeness and the expiration of the items. This way, you can always be sure that the kit is ready for immediate use. The BHV large basic first aid kit includes a Color Guide that names various injuries. For each injury, it clearly indicates what first aid should be provided. Moreover, the colors of the required bandaging materials correspond with the colors shown on the Color Guide (for each type of injury).
